Where an Insurance Company Has Its Assets

Historically, there have been a handful of insurance companies that have experienced problems. In some instances, they had received high ratings from some of the rating services. However, in many instances, the thing that caused the problems for the insurer was 1) where the insurance company had its investments and/or 2) our perception to where they had their investments (resulting in massive surrenders, transfers, and exchanges). Therefore, it can be wise to also look at an insurance company’s investments in addition to the important ratings provided by the rating services.
